Florida sets record: 10 years without a hurricane

Hurricane Joaquin’s powerful winds left heavy damage across parts of the Bahamas, including this house at Pittstown Point landing on Crooked Island.

For the 10th year running, Florida dodged a hurricane, setting a new record, while the rest of the eastern seaboard escaped a hit by a major hurricane. It helped that the 2015 season — four hurricanes, a depression and seven tropical storms, including one that triggered a state of emergency across Florida — largely followed the preseason playbook that called for fewer storms thanks to a powerful El NiƱo weather pattern heating up the Pacific.

Comparatively high rates of return on real estate investments in greater downtown and metro Detroit as a whole continue to drive foreign investors to the region in search of deals.
It's difficult to quantify exactly how much money from overseas has been spent on real estate investment sales in the past few years, but it's well into the several hundred millions of dollars, said Dennis Bernard, founder and president of Southfield-basedBernard Financial Group Inc.

Canyon Lake Ranch, a place 35 miles northwest of Dalas that used to be known for outdoor activities such as camping and water skiing has been transformed into a zoo of dangerous animals. However, the ranch will soon be transformed into a subdivision with 99 small mansions that are designed for Chinese buyers who are mostly from the Mainland, China.
